Our first meeting of the 2010-2011 year.
Become a member and choose from a wide variety of Interest Groups.
Support our Book and CD/DVD Sale with proceeds going to the CFUW Burlington Scholarship Fund.

"What's New at the Royal Botanical Gardens"
Belinda Gallagher
, Head of Horticulture at the RBG is responsible for 250 acres of cultivated gardens as well as horticultural outreach and education. Belinda will entertain and educate us about new trends and challenges in gardening.

November 22, 2010

"Reintroduction of the Trumpeter Swans in Ontario"
Beverly Kingdon
, the Swan Lady, will describe her many adventures over the past 25 years feeding, tagging and caring for the trumpeter swans throughout the winter at La Salle Park, Burlington.
This meeting is open to visitors.

"Grandmother to Grandmother Gathering - S. Africa"
Elizabeth Rennie,
is a member of CFUW Burlington and a founding member of the Burlington Ubuntu Grandwomen. She will share her special story as one of forty-two Canadian grandmothers selected to attend the first ever African Grandmothers' Gathering. This historic event was held in Swaziland in May 2010.

Halton Multicultural Council -"Changing the face of Halton"
A special speaker will provide an overview of HMC services and also two new Canadians (Cultural Ambassadors) will share their stories of integrating into Canadian society.

"Pulling Together - Breast Cancer & Dragon Boating"
Kathy Levy
, founder of Hamilton's first breast cancer dragon boat team (Knot a Breast) will share her special experiences.
This meeting is open to visitors.

 

April 18, 2011

"CFUW Resolutions Night"
Members participate in the national resolutions process by reviewing proposed CFUW resolutions and making recommendations to support, amend or reject them.
